The Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry attached to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget, the Secretariat of State in charge of Foreign Trade, ATLANTIC RE and the Agence Marocaine de Développement des Investissements et des Exportations (AMDIE) signed a partnership agreement today, Wednesday, May 28, to set up a national export credit insurance scheme in conjunction with the launch of the foreign trade roadmap.

The scheme represents a major step forward in enabling Moroccan companies to conquer new markets, particularly in Africa. It aims to

  • Strengthen the protection of exporting companies against the hazards of international trade, by covering both commercial and political risks;
  • Secure their contractual export commitments, particularly in new or poorly covered markets;
  • Encourage geographic diversification of exports by facilitating access to 15 priority African markets in an initial pilot phase.

This mechanism, supported by a government guarantee, is based on close collaboration between all stakeholders and the direct involvement of credit insurers and the national reinsurer.

For its part, ACAPS, as the regulatory authority, ensures that the scheme is rigorously integrated into the prudential framework while guaranteeing balance, financial viability, and long-term sustainability.
