The Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), in partnership with the Moroccan Insurance Federation (FMA), the International Actuarial Association (IAA), and the Moroccan Actuarial Association (AMA), are organizing a training session dedicated to actuarial capacity building in French-speaking Africa on November 25th and 26th, 2025, in Casablanca.

This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the four partners to develop the technical and prudential skills needed to consolidate a resilient and sustainable insurance sector. It aims to support regulators, insurance companies, reinsurers, and professional associations in mastering actuarial tools, managing risks, and improving technical governance practices in accordance with international standards. This training will provide a framework for experts, regulators, and industry professionals to exchange and share experiences on key contemporary actuarial issues.

Discussions will cover the central role of the actuarial function in risk-based supervision, the sustainability of pension and insurance schemes, and the requirements of competence, independence, and ethics that govern actuarial practice. These topics address the needs identified by supervisory authorities and market participants in terms of the reliability of technical assessments, risk anticipation, and policyholder protection. Through this initiative, ACAPS, FMA, AAI, and AMA aim to bolster the professionalization of actuarial functions and promote the standardization of risk calculation and management practices at the regional level. This approach will help to strengthen the quality of supervision, improve technical transparency and, more broadly, enhance confidence in the insurance sector.
