Established in 2016 by Law 64-12, The Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS) has been entrusted with the missions of the regulation and supervision of the insurance and social welfare sectors.
All ACAPS missions contribute to the protection of insured persons, affiliates, members and beneficiaries of rights. For this purpose, the Authority is entrusted with information, awareness raising and claims investigation missions.
The Authority has a wide range of skills in the regulation and supervision of the sectors subject to it, and this is in the interest of insured persons, affiliates, members and beneficiaries of rights.
In order to meet the challenges of the insurance sector and to support national and international developments, ACAPS has the power to regulate. It thus takes circulars and proposes to the Government draft legislative and regulatory texts.
Promoting transparency and wide dissemination of information, the Authority communicates regularly and publicly on all of its activities. Annually, the Authority publishes its activity report and the activity report of the insurance sector. In the same way, it periodically presents reports on the situation of the sectors subject to its control.
In a context of market globalization and with the objective to reach international supervision standards, ACAPS adopts a voluntarist policy for international cooperation in order to develop close relationships with its counterparts and international regulatory authorities.
